Design, engineering and everything between
Six ways to work together, priced and scoped openly.
Pick the shape that fits, or ask and I will tell you.
Every engagement is run by one person from first conversation to final deploy. That keeps it coherent, and it keeps someone accountable.
Product Design
Interfaces designed around how the work actually gets done.
Web Development
Fast, accessible, maintainable front ends built to last.
Full-Stack Engineering
APIs, data models and infrastructure that hold up under load.
Brand & Identity
Visual systems with rules clear enough to operate without me.
Performance & Accessibility Audit
Find what is slow or unusable, ranked by what it costs you.
Ongoing Partnership
A standing engineering and design partner, monthly.
What the first six weeks look like.
The order rarely changes. What changes is how long each phase takes and how much of it your team already has covered.
Full process
Week 001Conversation
A thirty-minute call, free and unhurried. What you are trying to do, what has already been tried, what the deadline really is. If I am not the right person, I will say so and point you at someone who is.
Week 1 – 202Discovery
Interviews with the people who will use the thing, a look at your analytics and support inbox, and a walk through the workflow as it exists today, spreadsheets included.
Week 2 – 303Definition
The object model, the flows and the states, written down and argued about while changes are still free. This phase is unglamorous and it is where most of the value is created.
Things people ask before signing anything.
More of these on the questions page, including money, ownership and what happens after launch.
Most engagements do. A typical project is design and build together, sometimes with identity work in front of it. Combined engagements are quoted as one piece of work rather than stacked line items.
Occasionally, if they are well defined: a landing page, an audit, a focused sprint on one flow. Anything under about two weeks is usually better served by the audit or a short retainer.
Four to eight weeks, typically. I hold two engagements at a time and no more, which is the only way one person can genuinely stay across both.
A named decision maker, access to the people who will use the thing, and roughly two hours a week. That is genuinely it. Everything else I can work around.
Not sure which of these you need?
Describe the problem rather than the solution. Half my value in the first fortnight is telling clients which service they actually need, and occasionally that the answer is none of them yet.
